about me

I practice both massage therapy and teach Pilates.

I am a certified Balanced Body Pilates instructor and have worked at studios in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville and Alameda. I received my CMT and became a certified massage therapist in November, 2017. I have over 800 hours of massage training, and a year of work experience as a massage therapist in training. Currently, I am pursuing advanced training in Ortho-Bionomy ™, Hendrickson Method ™ and Neuromuscular therapy (NMT).

I enjoy working with all types of people and bodies including athletes and others who want to push their physical limits in a supported and healthy way as well as anyone recovering from physical or emotional trauma. I specialize in treating chronic neck, shoulder, low back and knee pain.

My background is in software development, neuroscience and psychology. I have degrees in cognitive neuroscience and music. In my free time, I enjoy making, seeing and experiencing music and/or art.

about your massage

Your massage is tailored to fit your needs.

Swedish-based massage: a Swedish-based massage is focused on relaxation of your body -- your muscles, your nervous system and more. For this massage, you will disrobe to your level of comfort. Oil or lotion is applied as needed/requested. You will be draped with a blanket and sheet, and undraped as needed. Draping is modest, secure and, most importantly, for your comfort. Swedish-based can include any of the following techniques and modalities: myofascial, deep tissue, lymphatic, trigger point, Ortho-Bionomy ™, Hendrickson Method ™, Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) and assisted stretching.

Orthopedic massage: an orthopedic massage is focused on alleviating pain, chronic or acute. This type of massage is done with clothes on, so wear something comfortable but not too baggy, like yoga clothes. You may be in a supported side-lying position for some of the massage (if this is comfortable for your body). This massage will mainly include neuromuscular therapy (NMT), as well as orthopedic manual techniques, such as Ortho-Bionomy ™ and Hendrickson Method ™. You may also receive strengthening work, to help balance muscles and reduce holding patterns and tension.
